After nearly 3 decades in the residential construction business, including roles as a remodeler, general contractor, and ultimately, a principal in one of the countries largest home building companies, Francis M Payne founded Payne & Payne Builders in 1993, in the midst of a recession.
Initially, the day’s work consisted of him gathering up his tools and building a new porch on a Shaker Hts home, installing a brick patio in Russell, or building a small addition. As the economy improved, soon Payne & Payne Builders built its 1st home. As his extensive experience was evident in every project and interaction he involved, word spread quickly, the phone began ringing frequently, his top trades and suppliers were recruited to expedite the construction, and a corporation was launched.
His brother joined him soon after, followed over the years by his sons, as well as others friends considered extended “members of the family”. Payne & Payne now has 13 full-time employees and several part-time employees. They have consistently led their market areas in custom home-building and their reputation has spread dramatically, mainly through the voices of their many satisfied customers.
Their focus today is the same as it was 16 years ago: Treat everyone as you would a family member, and complete every project with the pride and integrity that comes as a result.
